The Bhagat Puran Singh Health Initiative strives to eliminate health and social disparities within underserved and underprivileged populations by providing access to health education for the betterment of the mind, body, spirit.
We modeled our organization, and were inspired by the teachings and doings of Bhagat Puran Singh.
A little about our title, in honor of Bhagat Puran Singh’s (June 4, 1904 – August 5, 1992) devotion to humanity and selfless service which inspired us to go above and beyond the call.
Starting with nothing but 2 rupees and the clothes on his back after the partition of 1947 and starting with two patients, he created the biggest and most successful charitable foundation northern India has ever seen. Puran Singh took up anyone that could not support themselves: abandoned children with Down’s, adults with mental retardation, Tuberculosis cases…. etc, anything that other people wouldn’t touch. Since then, tens of thousands have found homes, treatments, and education. For more on the life of Bhagat Puran Singh, visit his Sikhiwiki page:
